It is our oldest daughters birthday and before you say, “wait a minute...” Yes, you are right. Technically speaking, she is our oldest daughter in law. That being said, she is ours because God saw fit for her to fall in love and marry our oldest son, Will. For this and for her, we are truly grateful. While I have been so very blessed with three incredible young women who married our sons, whom we call our daughters, she is our first😊
Happy Birthday sweet Megpie! You are such a sweet blessing to our family! And goodness, just like Will was our first child guinea pig, bless his heart, you were our first daughter in law guinea pig, bless your heart😂. But unlike Will, who was too little to remember all our first child mistakes, you were 19...😂 need I say more?!😉😂
For you I prayed...too...long before I knew who you were, long before I knew your name and what you looked like... For you I prayed because God laid you on my heart when Will was still a baby in my arms. For you I prayed as I prayed for Will that you both would grow in wisdom and stature and find favor with God and man. For you I prayed as I prayed for Will that you both would love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. For you I prayed as I thanked God that Will would be the man, husband, and father that God called him to be. Likewise, that you would be the woman, wife, and mom that God called you to be. You see, as parents who love the Lord and entrust our children to Him, we pray for them, for all things concerning them...right? And in one moment of praying for Will, God laid on my heart to pray for you...the hope of you.
I have so many sweet stories, sweet memories to share, and just like with all my children, a handful of moments when I wanted to wring your neck-but I dare say, as with all my children, there are most likely at least a dozen or so times that you wanted to wring mine😂😂😂
You are precious and my most favorite Megpie in all the world! Of all the memories that are flooding my mind this morning, I keep coming back to this one...we were down at Falls Creek, but Will was off doing mission work somewhere.
For those who don’t know, I used to go down and help cook for our FBC campers and because our day started early, we went to bed early. I always loved lying in bed, hearing the laughter, the serious moments, the beautiful worship that would waft up the stairs during late night devo. This particular night a young man was giving his testimony and his testimony included Will and how Will played a big part in him coming to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. As with other going’s on downstairs, I could only hear his voice but didn’t know what he was saying. I was just about to drift off to sleep when I heard footsteps coming up the stairs and then opening my eyes to find that I was nose to nose with Megan. Before I could get a word out to make sure all was well she laid her hand on my arm and whispered with such sincerity, “I love your son so much!” It was still dark in the room, but I could tell from the sniffles that she was moved to tears, moved because the testimony being told included a young man she dearly loved, a young man that loved the Lord, and because of her love for the Lord, this testimony made her love Will even more...for this I prayed...for you I prayed.
Happy Birthday sweet Megpie, I am so thankful and so grateful we get to call you our daughter! You are a beautiful young woman, wife, and mother!💗😊 when I say that you are such a sweet answer to prayer, I sincerely mean it. If I could pick anyone for Will, I’d choose you!😊💗
For you, Megpie, I prayed.
